The grief and pain is too much for her, and the power of Princess Sailor Moon is too strong for the other Senshi to beat, so the past is repeated and the planet is destroyed. Princess Sailor Moon stands in the middle of the desolate land, emotionless, but the scene of destruction and nothingness jolts Usagi back into awareness. She mourns her friends and planet, completely distraught that she was unable to stop what she had promised not to do again.</p> <p>Miraculously, Mamoru appears beside her and tells her that there is a way to fix things, at the cost of their own lives. Usagi agrees to do it, but before she does the two carry out a small marriage ceremony for themselves. As they do this, a voiceover has Usagi apologizing to her friends for making them go through so much and for not being able to be with them any longer.</p> <p>Although this is meant to be an entirely destroyed Earth, Usagi and Mamoru stand in front of what looks like a (early) classical pillar formation to exchange rings. This scene, coupled with their Prince Endymion and Princess Serenity forms, echo the events of the past in the Moon Kingdom. The appearance of the planet, with no other structures surviving except for this small, very old looking set of pillars, and the fact that Mamoru, who had been killed by Usagi, is here might suggest that this entire scene is actually occurring within Usagi’s consciousness rather than physically. </p> <p>Another important point to note is that the moment Usagi truly surpasses her past life is when she awakens as herself in the form of Princess Sailor Moon— this means that she has taken on the form of her past self, but has her present consciousness, with all of her new experiences as a normal girl on Earth.
